Qué bancos en EE.UU. usan Zelle, cómo se usa y qué beneficios tiene para hacer pagos

Conocida y reconocida a nivel mundial como una de las alternativas más convenientes para enviar y recibir dinero electrónicamente, Zelle ha dominado la escena de las aplicaciones de pago móvil por su fácil uso, su rapidez y su seguridad. En los últimos años ha desplazado a sus similares y se ha impuesto como líder en su campo, adquiriendo una popularidad que la ha llevado a estar disponible en todo Estados Unidos a través de una basta red de bancos y entidades financieras que han visto en ella la mejor opción para cubrir las necesidades de sus clientes.

A diferencia de otros servicios similares, el principal beneficio de usar Zelle es la posibilidad de obviar transferencias bancarias adicionales, depósitos o cheques, ya que se limita a solo tres requisitos básicos: correo electrónico, número de teléfono móvil y los datos de una tarjeta de débito asociada a una cuenta bancaria en Estados Unidos.

Zelle —cuyo lanzamiento se remonta a 2017— es el resultado de la unión de cinco de los bancos más grandes del país: JPMorgan Chase, US Bancorp, Wells Fargo, BB&T y PCN Financial Services Group.

¿Cómo se usa Zelle?

De acuerdo con Wells Fargo, el uso de Zelle dependerá del tipo de transacción que el cliente necesite hacer. En ese sentido, existen varios pasos a seguir si se consideran las dos operaciones básicas para las cuales fue diseñada esta aplicación:

Enviar dinero:

1. El primer paso corresponde a la afiliación a este servicio mediante la banca en línea que corresponda. Al hacer clic en la opción correspondiente a Zelle, el sistema solicitará que el cliente se afilie al servicio aceptando términos y condiciones y proporcionando una dirección de correo electrónico y un número de teléfono móvil. Del mismo modo, si el cliente dispone de varias cuentas, deberá elegir una para que esté asociada a Zelle.

2. Luego de afiliarse y proporcionar todos los datos, el sistema le permitirá agregar destinatarios a través de un botón normalmente identificado con el símbolo “+”. Las mismas operaciones se pueden llevar a cabo a través de la app independiente de Zelle. Cuando haya agregado al destinatario o los destinatarios, basta con seleccionar la opción correcta para enviarle dinero.

3. Ingresar el fondo y seleccionar la cuenta de la cual se enviarán los fondos. Esta herramienta también puede permitir que el cliente seleccione un plazo de entrega para que el dinero llegue al destinatario.

4. Hacer clic en continuar para revisar y enviar el pago. Es importante poner mucha atención en este paso. Luego de enviar, el sistema muestra una confirmación de la transacción con los detalles correspondientes. Mientras tanto, el destinatario recibirá un aviso vía correo o a través de un mensaje de texto con la noticia de haber recibido dinero a través de esta herramienta.

Recibir dinero

Para recibir dinero vía Zelle, solo es necesario hacer el registro del mismo modo que lo haría una persona que envía; es decir, a través de la banca en línea. Los datos necesarios para el registro son los mismos: correo electrónico y un número de teléfono. También una cuenta donde se recibirán los fondos.

Por haber resultado de la alianza de los bancos más importantes en Estados Unidos, en los últimos años, Zelle ha aumentado su disponibilidad a una gran cantidad de instituciones financieras en el país, desde bancos internacionales y tradicionales, hasta bancos locales, corresponsales y también aquellos que operan virtualmente, sin ningún tipo de sucursal física.
